Corey Thurman
Corey Lamar Thurman made his name as a professional baseball pitcher with the York Revolution and, before that, playing two seasons at the Major League level for the Toronto Blue Jays. In his time as a member of our community, Corey led the York Revolution to several championships. Upon his retirement from professional play in 2015, he stood as the Revs’ all time leader in wins, innings pitched, and strikeouts. To calculate Thurman's impact on the area simply based off of stats and professional achievements, however, doesn't do him justice. Corey was a regular in conducting pitching clinics and participating in York Revolution High School Basketball Nights. He serves as a youth coach and mentor, and sees the opportunity to work for his community as a privilege. On top of that, Thurman has been involved with York County beyond the baseball diamond through his children’s health initiative, Corey’s Healthy Kids Club and the York Revolution’s reading program. He cares deeply about securing a better and healthier future for our students. Corey and his wife Angela are devoted parents to their son and daughter. Corey enthusiasm for our students and staff, and their achievements on and off the field, is contagious. As a youth coach and community volunteer, Corey built a history of teamwork and leadership in York, his chosen home. Back to the other candidates! |
